H.P. Paint & Chemical

H.P. Paint & Chemical is situated in the Vikas Nagar Industrial Area, right on Meerut Road. If you look across the street, you can see the big Toyota showroom with all its shiny new cars and glass windows, which is a big contrast to our side of the road. Our place is more about the work and less about the looks. It’s a sturdy building meant for handling chemicals and heavy drums of paint. The yard is usually full of metal barrels and has that sharp smell of industrial solvents. We spend our shift moving these drums around or checking the labels to make sure everything is in the right spot. The traffic on Meerut Road is constant, with big lorries heading toward the city or out to the highway. It’s noisy and the air is often thick with dust and exhaust fumes, but that’s just life in an industrial area like Vikas Nagar. Inside the unit, the floors are stained with various drips of grey and blue paint that won't ever come off no matter how much we scrub. We don't have a fancy reception area with a sofa; you just walk in past the gate and find someone in the main work shed. It’s a practical place where we get our hands dirty every day. We keep the machines running and manage the stock as it comes in from the suppliers. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do.
