Arun Kumar

Our office is located right in the thick of things on Ambedkar Road. Arun Kumar is situated in the Tehsil Compound, specifically on the Dusri Line. If you have ever been to a Tehsil Compound, you know what it’s like. There are people everywhere, lots of paper moving around, and a general sense of everyone being in a hurry to get their documents sorted. Our spot on the Dusri Line is a bit further back from the main gate, which is a blessing because it’s slightly quieter. The office is small and filled with the smell of old paper and ink. We have stacks of files reaching up toward the ceiling. It’s not a very organized look, but we know exactly where every single page is hidden. The desks are crowded with stamps and registers. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who come in from Ambedkar Road needing help with their paperwork. It’s a very public kind of place. You can hear the typists outside and the tea sellers calling out. We don’t have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum all day long. Arun Kumar has been a fixture in this compound for years. It’s a gritty, busy environment, but there is a real sense of purpose in the daily grind of the Tehsil.
