An Vision Fashion Boutique

I started An Vision Fashion Boutique here in Avasvikash Colony because I wanted a space where I could work on clothes without having to travel too far. It’s a quiet enough neighborhood, though you get the usual sounds of kids playing and neighbors talking. The boutique is mostly just one large room where I keep my sewing machines and all the rolls of fabric I’ve collected. There are scraps of thread on the floor almost all the time, no matter how much I sweep. I spend most of my day sitting at the machine or marking patterns with chalk. People from the colony come in with an idea or a photo they saw, and we talk about what kind of material would work best. I don’t have a big window display or any mannequins. Usually, I just show them the pieces I’m currently working on. It’s a very hands-on process. Sometimes a zipper gets stuck or I run out of a specific color of silk, and I have to head out to the market to find a replacement. I like the routine of it. The lighting is good in the mornings, so that’s when I do the most delicate stitching. It’s not a fancy high-end shop, just a place where things are made one at a time with a lot of attention to the small details. I keep a radio on for company while I work, mostly playing old songs that help me stay focused.
