Down in village Bhaguli, things are a lot quieter than the big cities. Swablambi Mahila Bakari Palak Producercompany Limited is based right here at Shri Imran’s place. It’s a village life, so everything moves according to the seasons and the sun. The women here do most of the heavy lifting. They are the ones who know the goats better than anyone else. We spend the mornings taking the herds out or checking on the kids. It’s a lot of walking in the Fatehpur area of Barabanki. The dust gets on everything, especially in the dry months. We don’t have fancy machinery or big computers. It’s mostly just notebooks and people talking to each other under the trees. The goats can be stubborn, and keeping them healthy takes up all of our time. It’s a group effort, really. If one person’s goat is sick, everyone helps out. We aren't some big corporation from far away; we are just local people trying to make the goat farming work for the families here. Sometimes the rain makes the roads to the village almost impossible to use, but we manage. Shri Imran’s house is sort of the meeting point for all of us. We sit there, drink tea, and talk about the prices and the feed. It is honest work and it keeps the community going for the women involved.
