Villefarms

Out here in Village Pikhor, life moves at its own pace. We are right near the Patel Samaj Umiya, so it is quite easy to find us if you are coming through Tehsil Malia. The ground stays dry for a lot of the year, but we manage. Villefarms isn’t a big operation with glass walls and shiny floors. It is mostly just dirt under the fingernails and waking up before the sun is even thinking about coming up. We spend a lot of time checking on the water and making sure the fences haven't been pushed through by wandering cows. The road outside gets pretty muddy when the rains finally show up, which makes things a bit of a mess, but that’s just how it is. We have a small room where we keep the tools and the heavy bags. It smells like earth and old burlap in there. Sometimes neighbors drop by for a chat while they are on their way to the temple, and we share whatever water is in the jug. We don't have a big staff, just a few local guys who know the land well. We don't use much technology besides the basic stuff needed to get the job done. It's a lot of physical work, day in and day out. But we like the quiet of the morning and knowing every corner of this plot. It’s not a complicated way to live.
