Our office, Smec Electronics Pvt. Ltd., is located at A 3 in the GIDC Electronics Estate. This area is specifically for tech and electronic businesses, so there’s a lot of shared knowledge and similar types of companies around us. Being in block A 3 means we are near the front of the estate, which is convenient for when we have deliveries coming in. The GIDC area has a very specific feel to it—lots of wide roads that get dusty in the summer and a bit muddy when the monsoons hit. Our workspace is pretty functional. We have benches set up for testing and shelves for all the delicate components we handle. It’s not the kind of place with lounge chairs or a coffee bar. We usually just brew a pot of tea in the corner when we need a break. The atmosphere is generally quiet because everyone is focused on their technical work. Sometimes you can hear the hum of a generator or the sound of someone soldering in the next room. We’ve been here long enough that the guards at the gate know us by name. It’s a steady, predictable place to work. We don't do much in the way of self-promotion; we just focus on the boards and circuits in front of us. It’s a simple, straightforward way to spend the day in the electronics trade.
