If you look for us in Sarkhej, Ahmedabad, you will find us on the first floor right above the Jambuwala Co-operative Bank. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a school, but it works for us. The stairs leading up are a little narrow and can get crowded when classes are changing. Because we are right in the middle of a busy area, you can always hear the sounds of the market and the cars below. We teach English to the local children who live in the surrounding blocks. The rooms aren't very large, so we have to be careful about how we arrange the desks. We have ceiling fans that work hard during the summer months to keep the rooms decent. There isn't a big campus or a field here, just the classrooms and a small hallway where students wait. Most of our teachers live nearby and walk to work. We don't have a lot of expensive equipment or a computer lab. We mostly stick to the textbooks and a lot of writing on the board. It’s a very straightforward operation. Parents like that we are easy to reach and right in the neighborhood. We open the doors early and stay until the last student has been picked up in the afternoon. It is a simple, no-nonsense place where we focus on the daily lessons without any distractions or fancy additions.
