Patel Scrap

Patel Scrap is located right here in Shaswadi. It’s basically a big yard where we take in all kinds of metal and old stuff that people don't want anymore. It can look a bit messy to someone passing by, but there is a system to all the piles of iron and copper. I started this because there’s always a need for someone to take away the junk. We spend our days sorting through whatever comes in on the trucks. Shaswadi is a quiet enough place, but our yard gets quite a bit of action. Sometimes we get old machinery or just bags of cans. We weigh everything on the big scale and pay a fair price based on what the market is doing that day. It’s not a glamorous job, and the sun gets pretty hot out there in the yard. My clothes usually have a few holes in them from handling the sharp bits. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. If you’ve got a load of scrap, you just drive in and we’ll help you unload it. We’ve been doing this for a long time now. It’s just me and a few guys keeping the place organized. We try to recycle as much as possible because it makes sense. It’s just a local scrap yard doing what needs to be done every day. We don't put on any acts; it is just hard work and metal.
