Mahakali Sweet Mart

Mahakali Sweet Mart has been sitting on Ramji Mandir Road for years, right across from Kashiba Society in Ranip. It’s a small shop, but it stays busy because of the temple being so close. Every morning, we start by getting the counters ready. There’s always a rush when people finish their prayers and want something to take home. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just us back there working with the sugar and the flour. The heat from the stoves can get pretty intense during the afternoons, especially when we’re frying things up fresh. You can see the trays lined up with all sorts of different items, some colorful and some just plain. We try to keep things simple and honest. The road outside can get a bit loud with the traffic, but inside we just focus on the scales and the boxes. Ranip is a tight-knit place, and we see the same faces almost every day. Sometimes a customer will stay and chat for a bit while we wrap their order in newspaper or plastic. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Ahmedabad, just a reliable one for the people living around here. If you walk past Kashiba Society, you’ll probably smell what we’re making before you even see the sign. It's just a regular life here, filled with the smell of ghee and the sound of the doorbell.
