Our little office is Shop Number 1 in the Kubernagar area of Ahmedabad. It sits right across from the H R Rolling Shutters place, which makes it easy for people to find us when they come for their first lesson. Ahmedabad traffic is something else, especially during the rush hours, so we see a lot of nervous faces coming through the door. Most people come here because they want to finally get their license and stop relying on rickshaws for everything. We have a couple of cars that we use every day. They are not brand new, but they run fine for teaching someone how to handle a clutch without stalling in the middle of a busy junction. The 204 A-Ward area stays quite busy throughout the day. Usually, the first batch of learners arrives early in the morning before the sun gets too hot to bear. By noon, the cabin gets a bit warm, so we usually sit and go over the signs and basic rules of the road with the students. It is a lot of repetitive work, explaining the same gear shifts and brake timings over and over, but that is just how you learn. We have seen all sorts of people, from young kids to older folks who never had the time to learn before. It is just a simple setup here. We keep our logbooks on the desk and wait for the next person to show up for their scheduled hour.
