We are based in the Gidc Electronic Estate. Hitachi Hirel has been here for a good amount of time. The estate is a bit quieter than the heavy industrial areas, mostly electronics and tech stuff around us. Our building is where we put together the power systems and other electronic components. It’s a lot of sitting at benches with soldering irons and testing equipment. We try to keep the place clean because of the sensitive parts, but there are always wires and boxes everywhere. It’s not a corporate skyscraper, just a functional space where we get the work done. The staff here has been around for years, so we all know each other well. We eat lunch together and complain about the traffic on the way in. The work is very specific, looking at circuits and making sure everything is connected right. It can be tedious some days, staring at small parts for eight hours. We don’t have any flashy signs or big marketing displays inside. It’s just rows of workstations and some storage shelves for the finished units. The neighborhood is full of other engineers and technicians, so it feels like the right place for us. We just focus on the task at hand, making sure the electronics work like they are supposed to before they get shipped out to whoever bought them. It’s practical, everyday work for us and we keep things simple around here.
