Prabhu Granite

We are based in Koppal, Karnataka, at 26-9-34. The yard is situated right near the police station, so it’s very easy to find if you are coming from out of town. We have been in the stone business for a long time. It is a family-run operation. We don’t have a corporate office or anything like that. It’s just the family and a couple of local workers. The yard is usually packed with different slabs of granite. Some are from nearby and some come from other parts of the state. The sun in Karnataka is very strong, so we try to do the heaviest work in the morning or stay in the shade of the trees when we can. We do all our own cutting and finishing on-site. It’s a messy process with all the water and the dust flying around. We don't have fancy equipment, just the standard machines that get the job done. Local people come to us when they are building or fixing up their houses. We don't spend any money on big advertisements. We just rely on word of mouth and the sign out front. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and the days are long. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves. We just try to keep things moving along. It’s an honest way to make a living. We have been here for years and we know the stone business well.
