Alkara is where we spend all our time. Ranjeet and Baljit Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us who decided to work together instead of everyone doing their own thing separately. It makes things a bit easier when you have more hands for the heavy lifting. We deal with the usual stuff you’d expect in a place like this. Seeds, dirt, and trying to get a fair price when it's time to sell. Alkara is a small place, so everyone knows whose tractor is whose. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather because it's the one thing we can't control. Sometimes we meet up at the edge of the field to figure out who is borrowing what tool. It’s not a big corporate operation with suits. It’s just dirty boots and hands that have been working in the mud all morning. We started this because we figured we could help each other out with the logistics of farming. There are days when nothing goes right and the engine won't start, but then you get a good harvest and it feels worth the sweat. We don't have any big speeches to give about what we do. We just get up, go to the fields in Alkara, and try to get the work done before it gets too dark to see. It’s a lot of physical labor and hoping for the best. We aren't fancy, just farmers trying to make things work out for everyone involved.
