Vikash General Store

Our shop, Vikash General Store, is right at the 28-29 Chowk in Old Faridabad. Being at a junction like this means there is always a lot of dust and noise from the trucks and rickshaws passing through. We are at Shop No 65. It is a busy corner, and we see all sorts of people stopping by while they are on their way somewhere else. I started working here years ago, and not much has changed in the neighborhood since then. We keep the usual things people need in a hurry. The shelves are quite high, so I have to use a small wooden ladder quite often to get things down for people. It gets a bit tiring by the afternoon, but there is always a tea stall nearby to get a quick cup and a break. The floor is concrete and a bit worn out from all the walking, but it does the job just fine. Faridabad is a tough city sometimes, with the heat and the traffic, but being at the chowk keeps us in the middle of everything. We do not have a big team or anything, just a couple of us making sure the stock is okay and the customers are sorted out. We open early because people heading to work need their supplies. It is a plain, honest business. We just try to keep the shop running smoothly without too much fuss. That is what life is like at Shop 65.
