Ved General Store

Ved General Store is located in Sainik Plaza, right in the middle of Sainik Colony here in Faridabad. We are at Shop No-69. It’s a decent spot because people living in the colony find it easy to just walk over. I usually get the shop ready by eight in the morning. The first thing I do is check the milk fridge. In a place like this, everyone wants their milk and bread early. We carry all the standard household items like detergents, toothpastes, and different kinds of lentils. The plaza itself has its busy hours and its slow hours. During the day, when kids are at school and people are at work, I usually catch up on the accounts or rearrange the snacks. Sainik Colony is a settled neighborhood, so we see the same people week after week. It’s nice because you don't have to explain where things are; the regulars already know. If I change the position of the biscuit jars, someone always notices and asks why. We don't try to be a big mall. It’s just a straightforward shop where you get what you need for the kitchen. Sometimes the electricity goes off and it gets a bit warm, but that’s just life in Faridabad. We just keep the shelves stocked as much as possible so no one leaves empty-handed. It’s a simple way to earn a living and serve the local people nearby without any complications.
