Vadprakash Mangal Kirana Store

Vadprakash Mangal Kirana Store is our place in Palwal. It’s a grocery shop where we spend most of our waking hours. We have big sacks of wheat and rice sitting on the floor, and the walls are lined with all kinds of dals and spices. The smell of raw grains is always there in the air. We start our day by lighting a bit of incense and checking what needs to be filled up. My father started this, and we just keep it going. It’s not a supermarket; you won't find trolleys here. You just tell us what you want, and we weigh it out for you. The scale is old but it works fine. We get people coming in for their monthly rations and others just stopping for a packet of biscuits. Palwal is a busy place, and there’s always noise from the street outside. Inside the shop, it’s mostly just the sound of the fan and the rustle of plastic bags. We don’t spend money on advertising or anything like that. People know where we are. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench when it’s slow. We try to keep prices fair because we know everyone in the area. It’s a simple way to make a living, selling flour and sugar and tea. We don’t have any big corporate ideas, just the daily routine of serving the people who have been coming to us for years.
