The Computers India

We have been running things here at 5M-18 for quite a few years now. Being located on NH-5 in the NIT area means we deal with a lot of noise and traffic right outside our door every single day. It is not a fancy place with glass walls or a big reception area. Inside, it is mostly workbenches covered in parts, half-opened laptops, and tangled power cords. We spend our hours sitting on stools, trying to figure out why a motherboard died or how to get a broken screen replaced without charging people too much. The shop smells a bit like solder and dust. Sometimes the light flickers, but we just keep working. People come in with their tablets and old desktop towers, usually hoping we can fix them by the afternoon. We have a few shelves with basic stuff like mouse pads, keyboards, and some cables, but we are not really a big retail store. Most of our day is spent with a screwdriver in hand. It gets hot in the summer because the small fan we have doesn't do much against the heat coming off the machines. We keep a logbook on the desk to track everything, and it’s usually full of scribbles. It is just a local spot where we try to get things working again for the students and families who live around this part of NIT. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know our way around a hard drive.
