Prabhanand Kirana Store

We have been running Prabhanand Kirana Store here in Palwal for quite some time now. It is just a regular shop where we keep the things people need every day. You will find bags of rice stacked near the entrance and rows of pulses on the wooden shelves. Every morning begins with sweeping the front area and dusting the glass jars where we keep the loose sweets and biscuits. Palwal can get quite dusty, so cleaning is a never-ending job here. We try to keep a good stock of cooking oil, salt, and spices because those are the things people run out of most often. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late, and we have to tell the regulars to come back tomorrow. It’s a small space, but we know where everything is tucked away. If someone asks for a specific soap or a brand of tea, we usually have it somewhere in the back. The ceiling fan hums all day long, especially in the summer months when it gets really hot outside. People from the neighborhood stop by for a packet of milk or just to say hello while they pick up their groceries. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or big signs. It is just our store where we work from morning until the shutters go down at night. We just focus on getting the weighing scale right and making sure the change is correct for everyone who walks through the door.
