N.D. Industries

N.D. Industries is tucked away at Plot No. 7 in Gali No. 5, out in the West Saroorpur Industrial Area. If you know the area, you know it’s dusty and the roads aren't great, but this is where the actual work happens. We do a lot of manufacturing here. The machines are loud and they run for most of the day. It’s a lot of metal work and oily floors, so we wear our boots and just get on with it. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a meeting in a suit. Most of us have been working here for years and we know each other's habits. We started small and stayed that way because it's easier to manage things ourselves. Sometimes the power goes out in the industrial area and we have to wait around for the generator to kick in. It’s frustrating but we use that time to grab some chai. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. We just make the parts people ask for and send them out. The loading dock gets crowded in the afternoons when the trucks arrive. It’s a bit chaotic, but we’ve got a system that works for us. We just try to keep the quality decent and the machines running. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. There are always scrap pieces lying around that we have to clear out at the end of every week.
