Madaan General Store

Madaan General Store is right at Sharma Chawk in the NIT area of Faridabad. If you know where Badkhal Chownk is, we are just a short distance from there. It’s a busy spot with cars and rickshaws always honking outside. My family has been running this place for a while, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of flour, different kinds of dals, and household cleaners. We don't have a big team or fancy uniforms. Usually, it’s just one of us sitting at the counter. The shelves are a bit high and sometimes I need a stool to reach the top boxes of biscuits or tea packets. People come in for their monthly rations or just a single pouch of shampoo. It gets pretty hot in the summer, but we stay open until late evening so everyone can get what they need after their shifts. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here at E-853. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a torch to find the right brand of spice for a customer. It’s a bit messy sometimes with all the new stock arriving in big gunny bags, but we manage to find everything eventually. It’s a basic life running a store like this in Faridabad, but it keeps us busy and connected to all the folks around Sharma Chawk.
