Jagveer Kirana Store

At Jagveer Kirana Store in Palwal, we keep things very simple. The shop is filled with everything from tea leaves to cleaning supplies. I spend most of my time behind the counter, waiting for the next person to come in. I’ve been in Palwal for a long time, and I’ve seen many businesses come and go, but people always need a local grocery store. I don’t have a website or anything like that; people just find us by walking down the street. The shelves are made of wood and they are a bit worn out at the edges. I keep a notebook to write down what people ask for so I can try to get it next time the wholesaler comes. It's just a one-room shop, so it can get a bit warm in the summer months. I usually have a small radio playing some old songs to keep me company when it's quiet. My son helps out sometimes after he finishes his school work. We don't have a big sign outside, just the name painted on the wall. It’s a practical place for practical people. I don't use any complicated systems for the inventory. I just look at the shelves and I know what is missing. It’s an easy way to live, even if the money isn't huge. We are part of the neighborhood, and that is enough for us. It takes a lot of patience to run a small shop, but I enjoy the quiet moments too.
