If you walk up the stairs above the ICICI Bank ATM near the bus stand on Railway Road, you’ll find us. It’s a noisy spot because of all the buses pulling in and out all day, but we’ve gotten used to the sound. The academy isn't some huge university, it’s just a set of rooms where we help students with their studies. We have some old desks and whiteboards that have seen better days. Every morning, we open up the shutters and get things ready before the first batch of kids arrives. Since we’re so close to the station, there’s always a lot of foot traffic. Sometimes people wander in thinking they can withdraw money because they saw the sign downstairs. We just point them back to the ATM and carry on. The walls are mostly covered with old schedules and maybe a few posters that have been there for years. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the paperwork. It gets quite hot in the summer months, but the fans keep things moving. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. It’s just a local place for people to learn something and hopefully get a better job later on. We know the names of most of the regulars who pass by. It feels like a small community here above the bank.
