Devilal Kirana Store

Devilal Kirana Store is a small grocery spot located in Palwal. I opened this store because I wanted to work for myself. It’s not a big supermarket, just a local kirana store where you can find the basics for your kitchen. I spend my days organizing the jars of spices and making sure the oil tins are stacked properly. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bags and climbing the ladder to reach the top shelves. I don't have any fancy lighting or air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums all day. Customers come in and out, mostly just locals from the nearby streets. I like the routine of it. I wake up, open the shutters, and start checking what we need to order for tomorrow. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and I have to explain to people why we don't have bread yet. Palwal is growing, but my shop stays pretty much the same as it was on day one. I use a simple calculator for the totals and keep the cash in a wooden drawer. It’s a very straightforward business. I don't try to sell people things they don't need. They tell me what they want, I find it, and they pay. That is how we’ve always done it here. It’s a bit noisy with the motorbikes passing by outside, but I don't mind the bustle of the town. It keeps things from getting boring while I'm waiting for customers.
