Bittoo General Store

Bittoo General Store is right on the main road in Sanjay Colony. We’ve been here at shop number 32 for quite a while now. It’s a busy spot, especially being so close to the Madrasi Mandir. You can hear the bells sometimes when it’s quiet in the morning. My name is Bittoo and I’ve lived in Faridabad my whole life. The store isn’t very big, but we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. It gets dusty because of the traffic on the main road, so I’m always wiping down the glass jars and packets. People from around here stop by for bread, milk, or just to chat for a minute while they wait for the bus. It’s mostly just me behind the counter. Sometimes my cousin helps out when it gets crowded in the evenings. We open up pretty early, usually before the sun is all the way up. The tea stall next door is where I get my first cup of the day. Life in Sanjay Colony moves fast but at the shop, things are simple. We deal with the same faces every day. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular general store with the basics. Some days the delivery trucks are late and we run out of things, which is frustrating, but that’s just how it goes here. I like being part of the neighborhood and knowing everyone’s name.
