Bharat Agarwal Kirana Store

Being in Sector 35 of Faridabad, right on Tilpat Road, means there is always something going on outside our door. This kirana store is a family-run place in the Sarai Khawaja area. We have been selling groceries here for a long time. It is not a very big shop, so we have to be careful about how we stack the heavy sacks of rice and flour so they don't fall over. We mostly sell the basics that every household needs every day. Things like salt, sugar, cooking oil, and different kinds of lentils are our main items. The traffic on Tilpat Road can be quite bad in the evenings, which makes it hard for delivery trucks to reach us sometimes. We just have to manage as best as we can. The shop floor is a bit uneven in places, and the shelves are old, but they hold everything just fine. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because that's not what people come here for. They come because they know we have what they need for their dinner. We spend most of our time weighing out items or packing things into small plastic bags for the customers. It is hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it’s what we do. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when the shop is empty just to get some fresh air. It’s a quiet life despite all the noise of the main road.
