Amichand Rajkumar General Store

Amichand Rajkumar General Store has been a part of Palwal for many years. We are a family-run business, and we take turns sitting at the front. The store is filled with big sacks of grains and smaller items on the side shelves. We don’t have a fancy layout or anything like that. It’s just a place where you can get your monthly supplies. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions for customers who don't want the pre-packaged stuff. It gets quite busy during the festival seasons when everyone is buying extra supplies for cooking. My father and I manage most of the work ourselves. We have to be careful with the inventory because the space isn't that large. Sometimes we have to move boxes around just to reach something in the back corner. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of traffic over the decades. We don't really do any promotion or sales talk. People in Palwal just know we’ve been here and they trust us to have what they need. It’s a quiet life mostly, just repetitive work of filling bags and taking cash. We close up when the sun goes down, except for the busy months. It’s an honest way to make a living and we are happy staying right here. The shop is our second home, honestly. We know where every single item is kept without even looking.
