Spice Club

Spice Club is located at 12A on the road between Erode and Perundurai, specifically in the Thindal area. If you’re driving along that road, you can't really miss the smell of turmeric and chilies in the air. We spend our days grinding spices and mixing them up for local kitchens and small restaurants. It’s a messy job sometimes, with the fine powder getting on everything, but we don't mind it. The shop is right on the main road, so we get a lot of people stopping by while they are traveling between the two towns. We have a few old machines that have been with us for a long time, and they make a lot of noise, but they get the grind just right. It’s mostly just a couple of us working here. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that; we just have a small desk where we keep the receipts and a phone that rings quite a bit. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. People around Thindal know us as the place to get their masalas. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just buy the best whole spices we can find at the market and turn them into something people can use at home. It’s simple work, but it keeps the local food tasting like it should. We like the rhythm of it.
