Nila Ice Creams

Our place is at number 1, right near the Easwaran Koil in Perundurai. Being so close to the temple means there is usually a lot of people walking around, especially during the festival days or on the weekends. You can hear the noise from the street from here sometimes when the wind is blowing the right way. We spend a lot of time just keeping the shop tidy and making sure the ice cream stays frozen properly. It’s just a simple shop, nothing too special to look at from the outside, but we like it that way. We get a lot of families coming in after they finish their business or when they are just out for a stroll in Perundurai. The floor gets a bit muddy when it rains, so we are always mopping. My brother helps me out behind the counter most days. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that, just this one spot near the temple. We focus on getting the flavors ready and making sure the freezer is always full. It is hard work staying on your feet all day, but seeing the kids happy when they get their treats makes it okay. We’ve seen a lot of changes in this neighborhood over the years, but we are still here doing the same thing. It is just a regular life for us, serving ice cream to whoever stops by. We just take it day by day and hope the power stays on.
