L. Mari Chettiar & Co.

We’ve been here at 59, Thillai Nagar for a good while now. L. Mari Chettiar & Co. isn’t some big flashy place, just a regular spot where we get things done every day. The street gets pretty busy during the morning hours, so parking can be a bit of a headache if you aren't careful. There’s a tea stall not too far from our door that always has a crowd. Inside the office, the fans are usually humming away because it gets quite warm in this part of town. The walls have been the same color for years, maybe they need a bit of a touch-up, but it feels like home to us. Most of the desks are covered in papers and ledgers because we still like to keep track of things the old way. You can hear the traffic from the main road if the windows are open, which they usually are to let some air in. People walk by all the time, some just glancing at the sign and others stopping in to ask for directions. It’s just how it is here. We start the day early, unlock the shutters, and settle into the routine. Nothing too fancy happens, just the usual work day at number 59. The neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still right here in the same spot, watching the world go by from the front desk.
