Jeyam Driving School has its office inside the Vishnu Complex on the Karur Bypass Road in the Solar area of Erode. It’s a busy spot with lots of trucks and buses passing by all the time, which makes it a real place to learn how to handle a car in actual traffic. We have a few cars parked out front, and you’ll see our staff sitting at the desks filling out forms or talking to people who want to get their licenses. Most of the day is spent out on the road with people who are nervous about touching the steering wheel for the first time. We go over the basics like how to use the clutch without stalling the engine, which happens a lot in the beginning. The office doesn’t have much in it besides the chairs for waiting and some posters about road signs on the walls. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full speed. People come to us from all over Erode because they need to get to work or take their kids to school and need to drive themselves. We don’t do anything fancy, just sit in the passenger seat and help people figure out the gears and the mirrors. Sometimes we have to wait around for the paperwork at the RTO, which can take a long time. It is a simple job, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening when the traffic on the bypass finally starts to thin out.
