Hand Craft Export is a small business located at No.-27, Gandhiji Street in Ammaplaayam. We’ve been working out of this location for several years now. It’s basically a workshop and a small storage area combined. We focus on getting handcrafted items ready for export. It’s not a glamorous job. Most of our time is spent checking the items for any flaws and then packing them up securely so they don't get damaged in transit. Gandhiji Street is a pretty quiet area, which is nice for getting work done without too many distractions. We don't have a big team or a fancy office. It’s just a few of us handling the orders as they come in. Sometimes we have to source things from other local makers when we have a big shipment to fill. We don't use any marketing lingo or try to sound bigger than we are. We’re just a local outfit trying to get things done. The building is simple and we keep the overhead low so we can stay in business. We deal with all the paperwork ourselves, which can be a headache sometimes, but it’s part of the trade. If you come by, you’ll probably find us surrounded by boxes and packing materials. It’s just the reality of the export business at this scale. We just keep working and making sure everything gets sent out on time.
