Sun Battery Shoppe

If you're driving through Vythila in Kochi, you might have seen Sun Battery Shoppe on Thammanam Road. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with batteries of all sizes stacked up on shelves. We’ve been here in this part of Kochi for some time now. It’s not a large place, just enough room for the stock and a little area where we check the charge on old batteries. The road outside can get pretty jammed with traffic, especially during the monsoon when everything slows down. We spend our time helping folks whose cars won't start or who need a backup for their home power. It’s a simple business. We don't have any big advertisements or a website that looks professional. It’s mostly just us and the local people who live nearby. Sometimes we’re out back dealing with old battery casings. The air in the shop always has that faint metallic smell. It’s just how it is when you work with lead and acid all day. We try to keep things organized, but when a shipment comes in, there are boxes everywhere for a few days. We know most of our regular customers by name. It’s a quiet life here on Thammanam Road, just keeping the lights on for others. We don't have any assistants, just the two of us making sure everything is charged up and ready for the customers. Sometimes we have to move the scooter out of the way to get to the taller stacks of batteries. Kochi weather is tough on car batteries.
