Springvalley Spices

We are located in Aluva, very close to the State Bank of India. It’s a handy spot because everyone knows where the bank is. Springvalley Spices has been here for a while. The shop is tucked into a row of buildings where there’s always something going on. The traffic in Aluva can be a nightmare, especially near the bridge, so we hear a lot of honking all day. Our place isn't very large. We have a back room where we keep the bulk of the stock and a front area for customers. It’s a bit dark inside because the building is old, but we have some bright lights to help us see what we are doing. We spend a lot of time weighing out spices and sealing them into small packets. It’s repetitive work, but it has to be done. We don't have any polished displays or fancy lighting. It’s just bags and boxes everywhere. Sometimes we sit on stools near the entrance and watch the people going into the bank. It’s a good way to pass the time when it’s slow. The humidity here in Kerala is no joke, so we have to be very careful that the spices stay dry. We use a lot of plastic bins and tight lids. It’s a simple life here, just making sure the orders are ready and the shop is open on time. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard we have to shut the front door to keep the spray out.
