Down at No.3637-A in Kadavanthara, you'll find Power Point Ups Clinic. We call it a clinic because that’s basically what we do—we fix things that are feeling under the weather. The place is mostly full of batteries, power units, and a whole lot of copper wire sitting in piles. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze once you get a few people and their equipment inside. We have a long workbench that runs along the main wall where most of the soldering and checking happens throughout the day. The floor is concrete and stays a bit cool even when it’s hot outside. We don't have any fancy posters or corporate mission statements hanging on the walls. Mostly just some calendars from previous years and a few notes scribbled directly on the wood of the benches so we don't forget measurements. It’s a bit messy, with screws and small components often rolling under the tables where we can't reach them. We usually have the front door open to get a breeze, and you can hear the sounds of the street and the traffic all day long. We aren't a big team, just a few of us who know our way around a power board and a soldering iron. People bring their equipment in, we take a look at it, and we tell them if it’s worth fixing or not. There’s no sales pitch here. We just like working with our hands and seeing things start working again. It’s a simple life.
