House number 116 in Hiktu is where we stay. Hitku Agro And Handicrafts Producer Company Limited is near the Narwamines post office, so it’s a bit tucked away from the main rush of Jamshedpur. Being in Sundernagar means we get a bit of both worlds—close enough to the city but still quiet enough to focus on handicrafts. We do a mix of things here. On one side, there’s the agro work, and on the other, people are making things by hand. It gets a bit crowded in the house sometimes with all the materials lying around. You might see some wood or fabric or whatever we are working on that week. It's a local effort, really. We didn't want to go into the big city and work in a factory, so we stayed here in the village to do our own thing. Hiktu is a small place, everyone knows everyone. When we aren't working on the crafts, we are looking at how the crops are doing. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till sun goes down. We don't have a big fancy website or anything, just this house and our hands. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sorting through some stuff or packing up something to go out. It’s a bit messy but that’s how it is when you’re actually making things yourself. We just try to keep the Hitku name going as best as we can.
