Kumars Public Schools

We have been running Kumars Public Schools here in Tadong for quite some time now. Gangtok is a small place and everyone pretty much knows where the school is located near the main road. It is just a regular school where we try to get through the lessons and make sure the kids are actually learning something useful. Some days are busier than others especially when exams are coming up or when the weather gets really cold in the winter months. We do not have any big fancy speeches about what we do. It is mostly just teachers showing up and students sitting in their desks trying to understand math or science. The building stays busy from morning until the afternoon when everyone heads home. Most of our staff lives nearby so we see the parents around town often. It feels more like a community spot than a big institution. We keep things simple because that is what works for us and the families in this part of Gangtok. Sometimes the bell rings late or we have to change the schedule because of a local holiday but we manage to get things done. It is a lot of hard work keeping a school going day after day but we are used to the routine by now. We just want the children to leave here with some basic knowledge and maybe a few good memories of their time in Tadong.
