Down here at Ida Peddapuram, the days start pretty early. Our address is P.B. No.11 on Adb Road, and if you know this area, you know it's mostly industrial activity and trucks. At R.A.K.Ceramics (India) Pvt Ltd, we deal with a lot of boxes and heavy pallets. It’s a constant cycle of unloading and stacking. There isn't much time for sitting around when things are moving. The air usually smells a bit like clay and machinery. We have a lot of space, but it always seems to fill up faster than we expect. Ceramic tiles are tricky things because they look tough but can snap if you aren't careful with the forklift. Most of our guys have been here long enough that they can tell a good batch from a bad one just by looking at the finish. It’s not a glamorous job by any means. We wear boots and heavy clothes and spend most of the time checking numbers against shipping lists. Sometimes the weather makes it tough, especially when it rains and the yard gets muddy, but we just keep at it. People come by asking about specific sizes for their bathrooms or kitchens, and we point them to the right stack. It’s a basic operation. We don’t have a lot of fancy signs or a big lobby. We just focus on the boxes we have today and getting them where they need to go without any cracks.
