Our office is right there in Padmanabha Garden, number 14-211. Mummibivaram is a small place, so everyone kind of knows where we are. We do a lot of small-scale building and repair work. It’s mostly concrete, steel, and getting our boots dirty on-site. The weather gets really humid here, which makes the drying time for cement a bit tricky sometimes. I usually spend my mornings checking on the guys at the site and then the afternoons are for looking at blueprints or fixing the mixer. We have a couple of old trucks that have seen better days but they still get the materials where they need to go. It isn't always smooth. Materials get delayed or it rains when you don't want it to. We just figure it out as we go. The shop has tools piled up in the back and a few chairs for when people stop by to talk about a project. We don't do anything flashy. It's just solid building work. My cousin helps with the accounts because I’m better with a shovel than a computer. We’ve been at this address for several years now. People walk by and wave when they see us loading the truck. It’s a decent life. We just try to finish one job before starting the next one. Sometimes we take on a renovation, other times it’s something from scratch. It keeps us busy enough throughout the year. We don't mind the long hours when the sun stays out.
