Bandaru Kirana Shop

Bandaru Kirana Shop. I’ve been sitting behind this counter at 6-9-996 in Dowlaiswaram Industrial Estate for a long time now. People from the Vgtps Colony come in all day. Some just want a packet of biscuits or some tea powder. It gets really dusty around here because of the industrial estate nearby. I spend a lot of my morning just wiping down the jars and bags. We have most things people need for their kitchens. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and everyone asks about it at once. It’s just how it goes. My son helps out on the weekends when it’s busy. We don’t have a fancy computer system or anything, just a thick notebook where I write down what we’re running low on. The fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking noise but it keeps us cool enough. Most of the customers are regulars, so we end up talking about the weather or how the local roads are getting fixed. It’s a small space, cramped with sacks of rice and lentils, but we know where everything is kept. Even when it’s raining hard outside, people still walk over for their daily essentials. I usually have a cup of tea around four o’clock when the evening rush starts. It’s hard work being on your feet, but this shop is our life. We just try to keep things stocked up so nobody leaves empty-handed.
