We set up our office at number 9, which is on the first floor of the Awadh Complex in Laxmi Nagar. If you know D-5 in that area, you know it can be a bit of a maze with all the shops and small businesses crammed together. We focus on the spice side of things, specifically peppers and food items. Laxmi Nagar is known for being a hub of activity in East Delhi, and our building is no different. It’s an older complex, and the stairs are a bit narrow, but we’ve made a decent workspace for ourselves on the first floor. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; you just walk in and we're there working at our desks. There’s usually a faint smell of spices in the air, which we don't even notice anymore. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking emails to coordinate with our sources. It’s a small team here, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from filing papers to moving a few sample bags around. The afternoon sun hits the windows directly, making it pretty bright, but we have some old blinds that do the trick. We just focus on getting the pepper shipments sorted. It's practical work and we try to keep our heads down and get it done. No one here puts on any airs or pretends to be bigger than we are. We just want to get the job finished and head home when the day is over.
