We are located at Hi-Tech House in Swasthya Vihar. The address is 8-A. Hi-Tech Generators & Engineers Ltd. has been operating from this building for quite a while now. Dealing with generators means there is always a bit of grease and the smell of diesel around the workshop area. We spend most of our time fixing engines or checking control panels. It can get pretty hot in the summer when we are testing the big units outside. Our engineers have their own sets of tools that they are very protective of. We aren't the type of place with shiny floors. We have blueprints scattered on the tables and a lot of heavy parts sitting on pallets. Sometimes a generator breaks down in the middle of the night and someone has to go out and deal with it. It is just the nature of the work. We keep a lot of spare wires and gaskets in the storage room. It’s a bit cramped but we know where everything is. Most of the guys here have been working with machines since they were kids. We talk a lot about engine timing and fuel consumption over lunch. It is a straightforward business. We fix things and make sure they keep running when the power goes out. That’s what we do day in and day out. It’s hard work, but someone has to keep the lights on when things fail.
