Bna Flyash Bricks

Out here in Village Venechity, which is in the Durgapur district, we spend our days working with fly ash to make bricks for the local builders. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't already from this area, but the locals know the way well enough by now. The landscape around us is a mix of green fields and the industrial smoke you see further off toward the main city of Durgapur. We have a small crew of workers from the nearby village who come in every single morning. It’s become a bit of a steady routine for us. We start the machines, check the raw materials, and get to pressing the bricks into their shapes. They stack up pretty fast if we are having a good day without any mechanical issues. The air can get a bit thick with the grey dust sometimes, so we wear masks when we need to. It’s not fancy work, but it pays the bills and helps the neighborhood grow. We keep our records in a simple ledger that’s seen better days, and the phone rings more than I’d like some afternoons. We don't have any big corporate structure or managers in suits. It’s just me and the guys making sure everything is okay for the builders who buy from us. Sometimes we sit outside on old wooden crates during lunch and just watch the clouds. It’s a quiet life.
