Our division of Bhilai Engineering Corporation Ltd. is located at No. 4/5 in the Industrial Area on Nandini Road. This is specifically the Project Div, so we spend a lot of time looking at blueprints and technical drawings. Being in the industrial area means it is always noisy with the sound of machinery and heavy vehicles moving around. The office itself is quite functional, with large tables for spreading out designs and plenty of storage for tools and equipment. We are right on Nandini Road, which is a major route for the factories around here. Most of the staff here wear boots and work clothes because we are often stepping out to check on the actual project sites. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy carpets or art on the walls. It is all about the engineering work and making sure the projects are moving forward. We have a lot of meetings, but they are usually quick and focused on solving a specific problem on the floor. The air always smells a bit like metal and grease, which is just part of the environment. We’ve been part of this industrial landscape for many years. It is hard work and the days can be long, but we just keep at it. We take our lunch together in the small breakroom and then get right back to the tasks at hand.
