J. P. Engineering

J. P. Engineering is over at Plot No. 98-F in the Industrial Estate. We’ve been in this same spot for quite a long time now. The neighbors have changed but we are still here doing the same kind of engineering work. It is a small space, and things get a bit cramped when we have a lot of materials delivered at once. You can usually hear the sound of the lathe from the street. I usually open up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Dealing with metal all day is hard on the hands and the back. My tea guy comes around at eleven and that’s the highlight of the morning. We don’t have any fancy signs or a big office. It’s just the shop floor and a small desk for the paperwork. Sometimes the paperwork piles up because I’d rather be out there fixing something. People know us in the estate because we’ve been around. We don’t really advertise or anything like that. If someone needs something made or fixed, they just walk in. We try to be fair with the price and honest about how long it takes. Some days the machines act up and we spend half the day just getting them to behave. It isn’t always easy but it is the work we know. We just stay busy and keep the doors open from Monday to Saturday.
