Adhilakshmi Carpentry Works

This shop is located at H. No -2-52 in Thogarrai. It’s a quiet spot in Duggondi where we spend most of our days covered in sawdust. Adhilakshmi Carpentry Works is basically where we build stuff out of wood. It could be a simple stool, a door frame, or some cabinets for a kitchen. We have been doing this for years, and the tools are getting a bit old, but they still work fine. Woodworking takes time. You can’t rush it or the joints won’t fit right. People from around the village come by when they need something mended or a new piece of furniture made from scratch. We don't have a big showroom. Most of what we make goes straight to someone’s house as soon as the varnish is dry. It smells like pine and teak in here all the time. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the hand saws, which is harder on the arms but gets the job done. We’re not a big factory. It’s just a few of us working with our hands. We try to keep the prices fair because we know everyone around here. Every piece of wood is a bit different, so every job is a little different too. We just like making things that last. If you walk past the house in Thogarrai, you’ll hear the hammering. It’s what we do every day.
