New Central Hardwares

New Central Hardwares is right on Convent Road, just a short walk from the Kaliamman Temple. You can usually hear the temple bells from our front door. Our shop at 33/45-1 is packed from floor to ceiling with all kinds of things. We have drawers full of screws, nails, and washers that I sometimes struggle to find myself. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch. If you need a specific tool, we probably have it buried under something else. We spend a lot of our day chatting with the local builders and plumbers who stop by for supplies. It’s dusty work, and my hands are usually covered in some kind of grit by noon. We don’t have an air conditioner, just a couple of old fans that move the hot air around. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time. People come in not just for hardware, but sometimes just to escape the sun for a minute. We try to help everyone find what they need, even if it's just a single bolt. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy, but we know where the important stuff is. It’s a basic hardware store, nothing more. We just open up early, stay late, and hope we have what the next person asks for. It’s just a steady life of nuts and bolts here near the temple.
