Computer Opretar

Out here on South Street in Pushpathur, things move at their own pace. This is 27/1, a small place but it serves me well enough for what I do. Being the Computer Opretar in a place like Palani means I see a lot of the same faces every day. The post office is right there in Pushpathur Post, so there is always some activity nearby. I remember when I first got the sign made, the spelling came out as Opretar instead of operator, but I figured everyone knows what I mean anyway. My room has a stone floor which stays nice and cool even when the sun is beating down on Dindugal. I have a couple of older machines that still run fine if you treat them right. I spend a lot of time just cleaning the dust off the keyboards. In the evenings, the light hits the street in a certain way and everyone comes out to talk. I usually have a tea around four and look out the door. People bring me their documents or ask me to help them with forms. It is just a regular job. I don't have fancy furniture or a big sign with lights. Just a small room on South Street where the work happens day after day. It is quiet, it is honest, and it keeps me busy enough to not worry about much else. I have a small stool for visitors to sit on.
