Hadingma Gunjung Organic Producer Company Limited is based at Nabajit Hakmousa’s place in Gunjung. The address is 04 Gunjung, and it’s a place where everyone knows everyone else. We started this because we wanted to organize ourselves better as farmers. We don’t have a formal office with a receptionist or anything like that. If you come looking for us, you’ll just find a few of us sitting around Nabajit’s place with some ledgers and maybe some samples of what we’ve been growing. The pace of life here is a bit slower than in the big cities, and we like it that way. We spend our time talking to the other farmers in the area and trying to figure out the best way to get our stuff to market. It’s a lot of walking and a lot of talking. We don’t have any fancy marketing materials or big corporate goals. We just want to make sure we can keep doing what we do. Sometimes the hills make it hard to get things moved around, and the weather can be a real problem, but we’ve lived here all our lives, so we’re used to it. It’s a small group, and we mostly just help each other out when things get tough. We are just local people working on the land and trying to keep our traditions alive while making a living.
