Kokrajhar Agro Producer Company Limited

Out here in Bongshigaon, life revolves around the land. We are a group of producers who decided to join up so we could handle our crops better. Dotma is our main hub. It’s a small village and everyone is pretty much involved in agriculture in one way or another. We aren't some big city company with a tall building. We meet in the village, usually near the post office area. It’s a lot of talking and planning about what to plant and when to sell. Being in Kokrajhar, we have some good land but the markets can be far away. We try to help each other with transport when we can. Some of us grow rice, others do different things. It’s never really the same two years in a row. We have to deal with the weather and the bugs like everyone else. Our families have been farming these same spots for a long time. This company is just a newer way for us to do the same old work but with a bit more organization. It’s not always easy to get everyone on the same page, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to make sure our families have a future in the village. It’s just us, the local farmers, doing what we know best and trying to get a decent return for our hard labor in the fields.
