Soundarya Carvings

Our workshop is at number 15 in the Old A P M C Complex, right near Shivaji Circle. It’s on Savadatti Road. This area is full of older buildings and a lot of history. We do wood and stone carving here. You can usually hear the sound of chisels and hammers before you even see the door. There is dust everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the craft. We make things for homes and some for temples too. We don't have a showroom with lights and glass. It's just a workspace where the raw materials come in and the finished pieces go out. Some of the guys have been carving since they were kids. We take our time with the details because you can't rush this kind of thing. People come to us when they want something that looks like it was made by a person, not a machine. We use tools that have been passed down for years. It’s a bit of a messy place, but we know where everything is. The coffee is usually strong and the work is slow but steady. We like being in the old complex. It feels right for what we do. It’s not a fancy business, just a place where things are made by hand.
